Kari Herbst
Coach, Girls’
Coach Kari Herbst graduated from Bartlett High School in
2005 and received several honors during her high school career
as a setter, including MVP freshman year, Upstate Eight All Conference
Academic Award 3 years in a row, 3-year JV/Varsity player, and
Sportsmanship award senior year. In 2005, she represented
Chicago, Illinois in the Bi-Annual Korean Sport Festival and
helped her team to a gold medal. This past summer she competed
again and her team won the silver medal. In addition, she was
named MVP of the tournament.
Coach Herbst graduated from Concordia University-Chicago in
December 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary/Middle
School Education. She student taught at Robert Frost Middle
School in Schaumburg where she taught 7th grade Math and 8th
grade Science. In 2008 she finished up her collegiate volleyball
career, again as a setter. She was a starter since her freshman year and received
several honors, such as All-Tournament team at the Concordia
Invitational Volleyball Tournament, Athlete of the Week,
Northern Athletic Conference honorable mention, Northern
Athletic Conference 1st team, and the 1st CUC setter to record
over 3,000 assists.
Coach Herbst has worked at several different volleyball camps
around Chicagoland, including Trinity Lutheran, Lake Forest
College, Concordia University-Chicago, Bartlett High School, and
Energy Summer Camp. In addition to helping with volleyball
camps, she has also coached summer league for Bartlett High
School and was an assistant club coach for Hawk Attack. With
13 years playing experience and over 6 years of club coaching experience, Coach Kari brings
her knowledge, enthusiasm, and love of the game to her third year at Energy
VBC — some say she lives for Volleyball.
