Ed Wrather
Coach, Boys’
Coach Wrather’s competitive playing career started on the
Heidelberg Generals (Army Men’s Volleyball team) where he helped
them win their first ever Men’s 26th SUPCOM Championship. He
also was selected to participate on the All-Army Men’s
Volleyball team which competed against intercollegiate teams and
other services teams.
After leaving the service Coach Wrather became an assistant
coach with the Fort Knox High School girls’ volleyball program
as J.V. coach responsible for the training of Varsity and Junior
Varsity, where he received high praise for assisting with
raising the team’s intensity which took them from a 0–19 record
to 15–4 record in one season.
Coach Wrather has been coaching as a IHSA Varsity Girls
Volleyball Head Coach for more than 14 years as well as starting
the first ever Boy’s Volleyball program at North Chicago High
School which coach Wrather coached for the last 11 years. Coach
Wrather also started the first ever Boy’s and Girl’s Middle
school Volleyball program at Neal Math and Science academy where
he has been coaching the boy’s for the past 9 years.
Coach Wrather coached Adversity girls 15s Elite for one
season and then moved up to girls 16s Elite for one season.
He also coached the 16s Elite boys during the same time period
for the next 6 years coaching the 16 Elite team to the
Open Division each year (which represents the top 36 teams in
the Nation).
Coach Wrather has participated in the USA High Performance
Tryout Program for the past 6 Years (and will continue to do so)
as the court coach that puts the players through the paces to
show if they’re good enough to participate in the USA National
team pipeline.
Coach Wrather is
Director,
Boys’ Division at Energy VBC and is coaching Boys’ Energy VBC
teams this year.
