Chris Knop
Coach, Girls’
Coach Knop played for the Northern Illinois University club team from 1993–1998 and Semi-Pro Doubles Midwest Volleyball Professional from 1994–1998. During his collegiate and semi-professional years he played middle and opposite/right side. He continues to play and enjoys coaching volleyball even more.
Coach Knop brings 11 years of volleyball coaching experience
to Energy VBC. He has coached high school, club, and college volleyball. His
extensive background includes: Head Coach Boys’ JV Barrington High School
(‘97–‘98 seasons), Varsity Assistant Barrington High School (‘97–‘98 seasons), Illinois
Math and Science Freshman Coach/Assistant Varsity coach in 1998,
and Velocity Volleyball Club 15u coach in 2005.
From 2005–2008 (2 seasons) Coach Knop was a
Volunteer Assistant Coach at Northwestern University in Evanston.
Coach Knop helped the wildcats to a 32–28 record in two seasons.
He worked primarily with the middles and right sides,
as well as breaking down game film and advanced scouting and
game planning. He also has worked two Northwestern Summer camps,
working in 2006 as an assistant coach with the top team in camp,
and in 2007 on his own with the second team in camp. Coach Knop
has brought the Northwestern University Wildcat style of training and playing to
Energy VBC, and is committed to helping the 17u players reach their
full potential and to look for opportunities to play after High School.
This is Coach Knop’s fifth year with Energy VBC.
He coached the Girls’ 15 team in 2006 and the 17 Blue
team in 2007. He also coached the 17 Blue team in 2008, and
finishing 33 at the Denver National Qualifier.
