Coach Allen Adams brings 15 years of playing experience to
Energy VBC. During high school, he was a
standout player at Glenbrook South where he received all area
honors and was recognized as one of the top 25 players in the
state by both the Chicago Tribune and Sun Times.
Outside of his high school team, he competed for Adversity
Volleyball Club where he won an AAU championship and earned the
opportunity to attend the USA Volleyball (USAV) Development
Camp. Coach Adams was recruited by multiple Division I–III
schools such as Long Beach State, UCSD, Quincy, and Carthage.
After an injury senior year, he went on to play for Western
Illinois University where his team finished in the top 25 at the
NIRSA Nationals.
Coach Adams has experience playing every position, but
predominantly plays as an outside hitter. He currently plays in
the Adult USAV program at the AA level. He is also an EVP beach
player and plays in multiple grass volleyball tournaments.
Coach Adams brings 8 years of volleyball coaching and
officiating experience to his sixth season coaching at Energy VBC. He
started gaining his coaching experience during high school as a
counselor at local volleyball camps. He continued learning to
coach at the club and varsity levels in college. He also was a
coach for the USA Volleyball High Performance Program. He has turned
down a coaching opportunity in South Africa, and, most recently, an
opportunity to play collegiately this season at Robert Morris University, to
continue coaching at
Energy VBC. During his
years at Energy VBC, his teams have been lead to several
tournament championships and consistantly finish in the top
three.
His 2008–2009 Girls’ 16 Blue team finished 6th in the USA Volleyball Great Lakes
Qualifier. In the 2009–2010 season, he lead his Girls’ 13 Blue team to a 3rd
place finish in the Great Lakes Qualifier, earning a bid to the
2010 USA Volleyball Junior Olympic Championships in Reno, and ultimately
finishing 38th in the country at their respective age level. Last season his
Girls’ 13 Rox team took 3rd in the WCPL. Also, his Girls’ 16 Rox team took 9th at the
JVA event in Louisville and his Boys’ 15 Rox team took 10th at USAV
Nationals. In addition, several of Coach Allen’s players have made the USAV
High Performance Pipeline.
Outside of the club, he has provided multiple private clinics
and lessons for groups and schools throughout the Chicagoland
area. He has been an assistant Coach for Northwestern University’s summer
volleyball camps He has also assisted in summer camps at Glenbrook South
High School and the Glenview Park District. Coach Allen is USAV
IMPACT certified, has a certification in the Positive Coaches Alliance, and
is an active member of the American Volleyball
Coaches Association (AVCA). Coach Allen is currently pursuing a degree in
Business from Northeastern Illinois University.
Allen is also a membe of Energy VBC’s Leadership Team as an
Head Boys’ Coach. This season he is coaching both Boys’ and Girls’
Energy VBC teams.
